Not quite Brazil more Blackhall!!

28 Jan 2018 by Nigel Henderson
As our very on Julie Allan AKA Wincey Willis put it “40 mph winds at kick off in Blackhall. This is going to be interesting”.

The Terriers didn’t show any signs of being phased by the conditions in the early stages.Neither did the size of the small pitch have any effect on the football they were playing. Dominating the early stages the lads just couldn’t find the finishing touch their play deserved. A rare break away meant that Joe Ford making his debut in goal was called into action for the first time. Starting as he meant to go on Joe showed a safe pair of hands in dealing with the attack.

This seemed to provide the Terriers with the shock they needed to sharpen up their passing in the final third and give them a well deserved breakthrough. Before you could blink the lads went 3-0 up. The home side rang the changes and this seemed to knock the lads out of their stride and complacency crept in to some of our play. The home side drawing a goal back and giving them a glimmer of hope. Joe had to pull off some important saves at this stage to keep the Terriers noses in front and at times had to show some outstanding bravery. Heading into half time the home team were back in this game without really deserving it.

How would the Terriers react in the second half? Well we started the second half in much the same way as we started the first. Dominating play and this time getting two more important goals to quell any comeback from the home team. Although the home team would pull one back through a penalty the Terriers showed some great maturity in seeing the game out to take the 5-3 win their overall play deserved.

Man of the man was going to be a tough call as there were some outstanding performances from Joe Ford on his debut and some tireless work from the rest of the lads on a very heavy pitch. However, Brooklyn Hansen took the honor for some outstanding work on the right together with some vital work in defence.

Well done lads and on we go to our next game for another 3 points!!!
