Harton & Westoe Terriers 5-6 Hetton Lyons

17 Sep 2017 by Nigel Henderson

When the lads alarms clocks eventually started ringing the Terriers showed exactly what they are capable of!!
The first half started well and we arguably were playing the better football but lacked that final ball to unlock the Lyons defence. Typically the Lyons would break for the first time in the game and scored very much against the run of play. However, once the first goal went in it seemed to take the wind out the Terriers sails and number two and three quickly followed. By the time the half time whistle came the Terriers found themselves with a mountain to climb at 5-1 down.

The Terriers started the second half much the better side again and scored very quickly to give the lads a little bit of hope. Once the third went in the belief the lads showed was outstanding. Suddenly we were first to every ball and picked up every loose ball. Four and five arrived to peg us back level and at this stage it looked like there was only one winner. Only to be hit with the sucker punch in the last two minutes with an unstoppable free kick.

Well done lads and lets take that second half performance into the next game!!

Goals came from Sam Pallas(2) Jonny Newton(1) and Joffe Gawler(2)
